Ubicept at CES 2023

Emerging from stealth at the most influential tech event in the world

Ubicept emerged from stealth several weeks ago at Eureka Park, the startup arena at CES 2023. We attended many conferences and gave many talks before, but this was our first time setting up a booth. The idea of debuting at CES—of all possible places—was quite exhilarating, but also intimidating!

When we were deciding whether to exhibit, we read stories about how startups tended to be drowned out at CES due to its massive size and scope. But those concerns melted away moments after we set up. Our booth was constantly packed with interested attendees, including:

  • Innovation representatives from larger companies seeking emerging technologies

  • Media representatives focused on innovation and technology

  • Potential investors

  • Exhibitors (and new friends!) from other emerging startups such as Ixana and Juice Serve

  • … and, of course, plenty of curious observers who, like us, were marveling at all the incredible technologies that were being revealed at CES

The results were fantastic. We met customers in our target industries, but just as importantly, customers outside of those industries were able to find us and tell us about their most challenging perception problems. Also at CES, we announced the release of our first product evaluation kit which provides a clear path forward for our engagements with future partners.

Roger Lanctot (of TechInsights and Strategy Analytics) wrote about Ubicept’s self-contained, non-line-of-sight perception capabilities discussing its potential benefits:

Some of the best technology demonstrations are those that almost appear to be magic. There is a how-did-they-do-that quality that is inspiring in the way that suggests that true, meaningful progress is still being made in the world of technology - and in the area of road safety particularly.

TheStreet.com highlighted how technologies such as ours could potentially replace more expensive LIDAR solutions for self-driving cars and ADAS:

At CES, startups such as Foresight (stereo vision), Owl Autonomous Imaging (thermal imaging) and Ubicept (mono and stereo vision using next-gen image sensors) showed off solutions that can encroach on LIDAR's turf …

Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better place to emerge from stealth! We’re already engaged with many of the folks we met at Eureka Park and we look forward to building the future with them together.
